Summary of camping

We both enjoy our camping and the freedom it allows, to experience the pleasures of pitching in unbelievable places, often alone to enjoy a glass of wine while hiding from everyone.

Camping is pleasurable  when you have the suitable equipment to handle all the weather conditions.  It is a rewarding experience to be able to pitch the tent beside a river and slip into in a warm sleeping bag and listen to the running water in a peaceful valley.

Sometimes camping can be a little unpleasant, like too windy or too wet, but are we mad; as we enjoy the challenges?
When we need a break or weather conditions are too extreme, we are not silly and head for accommodation, hotels, B&B Et cetera.

Following is a list of our camping gear.

Tent -:  Mont Dragonfly tent, 2 person, 4 season, nylon inner & heavy duty floor, dual vestibules.  Ceiling vents combined with large mesh doors provide flow-through ventilation, reduces condensation on cold nights.  The Mont Dragonfly replaces the Firefly in 2023, which was Peters favorite “hiking tent”, which has proven to be durable over many years.

Sleeping Bag -: Sea to Summit – Regular, Ascent AcII for men, -4 degrees comfort LHS Zip (to allow bags to join together)

Sleeping Mattress -: Thermarest – Prolite 3 season full self -inflating mattress.
Sleeping Pillow -: Sea to Summit
Sleeping Bag Liner -:  Silk  x Double Size. (2 x singles joined &  hand sewing)

Tarp -: Ultra Sil, 10 ft x 8 ft , 15D non rip nylon, 440 grams (from Canada, you can now purchase lighter tarps from Sea to Summit)
Repair Kit for tent, various patch fabrics and seam sealer.
Head torch: Black Diamond headlamp.

Following is a list of our kitchen  gear.

Stove 1 -: MSR Whisperlite International for liquid fuels
Stove 2 -: MSR Pocket Rocket for Butane Gas
                  A better option would be the MSR Whisperlite Universal                      which adapts directly with Gas canisters to the burner.
